This afternoon there appeared in my mail a flyer from the Teeswater Lions.
It seems that after 62 years of supporting the community, decreased membership is making it harder and harder for the Lions to undertake fundraising projects for the community. At this point in time the Lions face the real possibility of losing their charter and disbanding.
If you have the time and interest remember to fill out the questionnaire at the bottom of the flyer and drop it off at the Post Office (in the Lions Eye Glasses Box) by June 20th (next Monday).
I know that memberships in other clubs in town have been under strain and certainly there are a pile of ‘good deeds’ in need of doing in our town and area, so if you have the time consider helping out with the Lions. I know in other parts of the country members of my own family have ...

Sometimes it takes just one spark to ignite a flame of local spirit.
30 years ago Wally Ballagh and four other husky local lads carried an elderly man up the stairs of the Teeswater Town Hall to listen to his son speak.
From that encounter began a movement to make the concert hall in the town hall accessible to anyone who wished to come. The movement, formalized at a kitchen table in 2007, became the Teeswater Town Hall Accessibility Project, officially completed this evening with the ribbon cutting.
While the major milestone of the project was construction of an elevator / lift from the main entrance to the concert hall, other components included new accessible washrooms, handrails on the stairwells, improved lighting and painting on the upper and lower floor. All three levels of government were involved in the project, as well as a large number of local businesses and volunteers. Unfortunately, due ...

The Teeswater Library is no exception. For nearly 100 years the library has nurtured generations of readers in our community. Or should I say generations of voracious readers as Teeswater Library has the highest per capita readership in Bruce County!
