Sacred Heart School on a Mission! – to Nicaragua

By (Feb 14th, 2012)

Just received more information from Joan Weitz on the upcoming Sacred Heart Mission trip to Nicaragua…

On March 8th,2012, Sacred Heart High School Mission team consisting of 21 students, 2 teachers and 7 community members are headed on a 2 week mission trip to the N.P.H. orphanage in Nicaragua!

The airlines allow us to take 60 hockey bags weighing 50 lbs each. We fill these with everyday essentials for the orphans. We only have half the bags filled so far.

We are still looking for good quality, clean children’s clothing ranging in size from baby -18 yrs old. Since it is so hot there we mostly take summer-like clothing. They do wear jeans and light rain jackets as well. They also need black dress shoes to wear as part of their school uniform and for church. Running shoes and sandals come in handy as well. New underwear in packages is very appreciated by all. We also need towels and twin size bed sheets.

Soccer balls are well received as well. They love playing soccer!

They have a school at the orphanage. School supplies are warmly welcomed including Spanish books, erasers, pencils & pens. Crayons, glue sticks, small scissors, rulers and pencil crayons are great ideas.

If you have any questions or would like your donation picked up, call Joan Weltz at 519 367-2361. Donations can also be dropped off Mon-Fri at Sacred Heart High School in Walkerton during school hours.

Any and all donations are welcomed and appreciated.

This sounds like a GREAT project to help out with! – just wish I was going! – ed.
