The Unofficial End of Summer
3
Summer 2010 has roared by in a flash – it seems like only a few days ago we packed the last school lunch and the Blue Jays were the pennant hunt.
Now here we are with the Labour Day Weekend ahead of us – the unofficial last weekend of summer – and in four days the empty hallways at Hillcrest and Sacred Heart will be abuzz again.
The weather for this last holiday weekend of summer is expected to be unsettled at best, with now Tropical Storm Earl racing up the East Coast and Heavy Thunderstorm Warnings in Effect here in the Bruce. And look at those temperatures! – 15, 19 degrees – Mother Nature is definitely reminding us that Fall is on the way!
There will be lots of events happening around the region this weekend, from the Bruce County Plowing Match outside Kincardine to Music in The Fields in Lucknow, but remember your umbrella (or a waterproof jacket)! Explore The Bruce! has a comprehensive list on their website of what's happening all around the county. If you are thinking of taking one last dip in the lake this weekend (might be a bit chilly!) check with Grey Bruce Health online for current beach safety information! As of Friday morning Station Beach at Kincardine remains closed to swimming due to high levels of bacteria.
Most of all enjoy the Unofficial End of Summer and get ready for Parental Freedom Day… err the first day of school… on the 7th!
