Congratulations to the Hillcrest Central community on their fundraising efforts for Haiti. We were able to donate $500 to the relief effort in Haiti through Free the Children. The funds will go towards emergency and medical supplies. Thank you to the Me to We group for organizing the fundraising and for their fabulous baking.
The Breakfast Club hosted its first soup day of the year on January 22nd. The students were treated to bowls of hot chicken noodle soup and grilled cheese, along with cheese and fruit. Thanks to all the parents and grandparents who came to help out.
Noteworthy events at Hillcrest Central School in February:
Parents, grandparents, neighbours and friends are welcome to join us for our speech and storytelling events. Storytelling for grades 1 to 3 is at 9:00 on February 9th. Speeches for grades 4 to 8 are at 9:00 on February 11th. We look forward to having great audiences for both events. The Legion public speaking event will be held on Saturday, February 20th for those students who qualify.
School and Olympic Spirit Friday Feb. 12th
- Double the Fun Day
- Celebrating Olympic Opening Day and Valentine’s Day
- Special Valentine cookies/cupcakes and Valentine treats will be on sale 1st break for 50 cents
Olympic Spirit Day Friday Feb. 19th
- Dress up in Olympic ring colours or as your favourite Olympian
- Dress ready for the mini Hillcrest Olympics
Snowman Competition Day Friday Feb. 26
- Students will work in teams to cooperatively design and create a snowman
- Students will need to bring in snowman accessories
