Hillcrest Hub – April 2009

Me To We
The Me to We group participated in a Vow of Silence in solidarity with children around the world who cannot speak for themselves. The students spent 24 hours without speaking and raised almost $100 towards their cause. All nine students stayed at the school overnight to support each other through their silence. They had to prepare their own supper, without speaking, and entertain themselves for the hours they were here. Thank you to the parents and community members who supported the students.
Turn Off The Screens Week
Hillcrest will once again be participating in Turn Off The Screens Week which runs from April 27th to May 3rd. Everyone is encouraged to find activities to do that do not involve television and computer screens.
Speech Competitions
Congratulations to Paige Ballagh who placed first at the Lions’ speech competition in Mildmay on March 25th.
At the regional speech competition at Arran-Tara on March 3rd, Paige Ballagh placed 2nd in the intermediate competition and Lydia McPherson
