No matter how closely I watch the calendar or hear the geese flying south overhead, Winter always seems to sneak up on me. Perhaps it is a wish that maybe, just maybe, a new Super El Nino will hit and we will stay sunny and 18° through next April. The Hillcrest Central School 8th Graders are looking for local support as they fund-raise for their trip to Ottawa next Spring! After spending the fall learning all about our electoral system and even conducting their own student vote on Election Day, the 8th graders will be off to Ottawa next June for a first hand look at the inner workings of Parlaiment as well as the many cultural offerings of our nation’s capital. Perhaps there is a budding MP or even Prime Minister about 2045 in our midst? One of the first fund-raisers for the trip will be a combination Yard and Bake Sale (and Raffle) on Saturday, November 22nd, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Central School’s gymnasium.
